Please join us on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 7:00 for this month's Tropical Fish Society of Rhode Island meeting.
Our speaker this month is author and naturalist Andy Martinez. His presentation is "The Wonderful World under the New England Waters."
"The North Atlantic has long been known as a region of rich biodiversity. As scuba divers we are blessed to have such a wonderful area to enjoy. Tonight’s presentation will show the variety of marine life that is easily available simply diving from shore. The seasonal changes that bring us torpedo rays, pufferfish, nudibranchs, and squid are a yearly event and always make the diving fun. You will learn about the interesting animal behaviors of the local marine life which will help make even swimming over the sand enjoyable.
Andy Martinez has been diving and photographing marine life for over 50 years. His work has been used in many magazines and books and aquaria. His popular app, Marine Life North Atlantic, is a necessary resource for anyone wanting to know the critters from this area. He has led many diving groups to the Philippines, Indonesia and many islands in the Caribbean."
The address of our Wednesday meeting is 19 Mohawk Drive, Riverside, Rhode Island. Mohawk Drive is directly off of Rt 114, the Wampanoag Trail in Riverside. Route 114 is a divided road at the entrance to Mohawk Road. If you are coming from the North you need to go past it to the next turnaround, which is on the left just past the "Welcome to Barrington" Sign. After you turn around, Mohawk Road will be on your right a short distance past the "Anchor Bay Assisted Living" sign. There is a Blue and White sign at the entry of Mohawk Road for the Riverside Sportsmans Association. The building is at the end of the road.
